Telephones

The Campers Always come First! Two lines are provided for campers and staff. Both phones are located in the Welcome Inn and are for outgoing calls only. You are not allowed to make any calls during the camper's phone hours; campers always come first! Only local calls, credit card calls, or collect calls can be made from this phone line. Counselors may use the phone during off time after 7am and before 11 pm. Limit calls to five minutes when someone else is waiting. Any abuse of phone use will result in the suspension of phone privileges. We will make a computer available to check email. Cell Phone are not permited in the cabins. Keep them in your car or we can lock them up in the office. Campers are never allowed to use your cell phone.

Parking, Driving, & Speed Limits - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Park only in designated parking areas! Camp Speed Limit is 5 mph - Children are everywhere, especially where you aren't looking! Never transport a camper in your private vehicle! Only designated drivers (over 21) are permitted to drive camp vehicles and only for official camp business. We must have a photocopy or your Valid Driver's License before camp starts. Your driving record will be checked before you are allowed to drive any camp vehicle, and you will only be allowed to drive a camp vehicle when assigned by the Director(s).

Nights Off

We don't want you to get burned out! Overnight Counselors will have three nights off, includes (one day off every week), from after evening activities to 1:00 am. DAYS OFF DO NOT START UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST WEEK OF THE CAMPERS ARRIVING OR LAST WEEKS OF CAMPERS STAY!! Please have fun while off duty but remember you must return to camp in the proper condition. While you may utilize camp facilities during off time you must be mindful of sleeping campers; do not spend time in the cabins or making noise nearby.

Leaving Campus: You must sign out and sign back in! Whether you are leaving campus to run an errand for camp or during your off time you must sign in and out with the Office every time you step foot off camp property.

Borrower Beware! NEVER borrow a campers belongings. NEVER borrow from or lend money to camper, other counselors, and Camp. We will never lend you money! If you discover a camper with money you must bring him/her to the office with the cash.

A Private Matter! Your pay rate is outlined in your private Contract and is not to be discussed with anyone. Disciplinary action will be taken upon breaking this expectation. Pay day is every other Saturday beginning the first Saturday in July, at 5:00 pm.

The camp provides your full income. Staff are not allow to be tipped by parents. In addition to salary we provide board, lodging, and limited transportation assistance payable only and in full at the end of your successful completion of the entire contract period.

Salaries range from $120.00 to $400.00 per week and for professional staff $400 to $650 per week, depending on experience, credentials, references, and the particular position. Pay is held until the completion of your summer contract however, you can draw up to half of what you have earned every two weeks. Those days are every other Friday for all staff. MGA Overnight Counselors are off every other night from 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM (except for Sundays where everyone is full on) and have a minimum of 6 full days (24 hours) off during the summer time that the kids are in camp.

Medical Physical

Yes you must have a copy of our physical form filled out by a doctor before camp starts. Please send us a copy by May. A school physical is a suitable substitute, within 6 months of summer.

Staff Appearance

Kennebec is a Uniform Camp for both Counselors and Campers! When you arrive, you will be given your Camp Uniforms: Uniforms include 1 MGTA Wind shirt or jacket, 3 MGTA Polos, and 2 MGTA T- shirts and a MGTA Hat.

You must wear an insignia shirt during all working hours. Shirts should be kept neat and clean, no stains, and must be worn tucked in. Along with the uniform shirts you need to wear solid color blue or khaki shorts or pants and footwear appropriate for your area; golfers must wear navy or khaki golf shorts or pants and soft spikes, tennis players must wear white or navy tennis shorts and red clay court tennis shoes. No jewelry (including earrings) during time on duty. Remember: You are all Role Models - Hair must be neat and washed. You cannot start to grow facial hair during camp.

Staff must maintain a neat, clean shaven, and have a professional appearance throughout the summer.
