Cabin Counselors

Most of the staff are Cabin Counselors plus another role too. The cabin is the campers and counselors home away from home, and as such, the cabin counselor is the most important job at camp. It is the campers big brother or big sister, who is responsible for care and well being of the campers and their cabin life. It includes: life within the cabin,laundry, cabin and personal cleanliness, all meal times, shower and bunk planned activities, the unpacking and set up of each campers personal space; and packing to leave. Within the cabin a counselor has many responsibilities, first and foremost is the safety and well being of the children.  They must also supervise bedtime (must sleep in your bunk), rest hour, and shower hour. Because you will be living witht he campers, you will be monitoring how the camper is feeling, getting along with others and their general feeling of satisfaction and concerns. Participate in evening activities with their cabin.  When assigned to an off campus trip/activity, responsible for the safety of campers and reporting any problems to the Trip Leader.  Report any and all cases of homesickness, bullying, and any other issues within the bunk.  They are responsible for cabin cleanliness and reporting any maintenance issues.  They report to and are supervised by, head counselors and unit heads.

Golf Counselors

(see cabin counselor also). Assist the Golf Pros with instruction.  Help with course maintenance and set-up.  Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by  Golf Director.

Tennis Counselors

Lifeguard

(see cabin counselor also).  Helping maintain a safe waterfront. Lifeguarding shifts on the waterfront plus teaching swimming , sailing, waterskiing, boating, canoeing, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, and other water sports. Supervising campers and making sure all waterfront procedures and rules are being adhered to (including but not limited to the buddy board system).  Reporting any and all safety issues or concerns.  Assisting with the boating program.  Opening and closing waterfront at direction of Waterfront Director. Supervise campers on off site trips.    Report to and supervised by Waterfront Director.

Activities/ Landsports

Kitchen staff

Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen/dining room area.. Reporting all safety or maintenance issues to the Head Chef.  Responsible for dining hall and food prep, serving the food, meeting special dietary needs of campers and staff, after meal clean up.  Reports to and supervised by Head Chef.

Landry/Cleaning staff

Responsible for following our Bi -weekly laundry procedure.  On non- laundry days, cleaning the showers,  bathrooms of bunks, offices, and any other area assigned for that day.  Reporting any and all maintenance issues to Director of Operations.  May have some kitchen responsibilities.  Reports to and supervised by Director of Operations.

Golf Pro

To instruct his/or her group.  To supervise the golf counselors.  To lead the off site trips.  To help evaluate campers and place them within appropriate group.  To help guide campers through the completion of their WAYWO books.  Help with maintenance and set up of golf areas. Awarding certificates/patches for golf prowess.  Give extra one on one instruction when requested.  Will be assigned a unit of cabins for which they will oversee safety, cleanliness, discipline, and conviviality  campers and counselors. To help out with evening activity and post evening activity once a week.  Report to and supervised by the Director of Golf.

Tennis Pro

Nurse

Responsible monitoring the general health and well being of campers and counselors.  Making sure that hydration breaks are announced and head checks completed.  Supervise and track the distributions of prescription meds.  Keep records  of and report  any and all incidents to the director on a daily log.  Let head counselors know of any and all health issues that may effect a camper within the bunk.   Care for minor health issues of campers/staff.  Determine if off site care is required.  Supervise the functioning and cleanliness of Health Center.  Report any maintenance issues to Director of Operations.  Reports to and supervised by the Director of the Camp. Keep parents informed by phone or email of any medical treatment given a camper on a daily basis.

Media

(see cabin counselor also).  Collecting videos and photos of camp daily. Capture each camper on video or digital shots every day. Instructing any assigned media classes.  Uploading, editing, sorting pictures and video onto website.  Collect bunk and staff photos for each session.  Reporting any and all maintenance issues.  Keeping media building clean and organized. Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by the Media Director.

Activities Lounge/ Cinema Cafe Counselor

(see cabin counselor also).  Set up the lounges, pool table, card table, foos ball table and various games. Serve food and drink to campers and staff . Keep record of all camper and staff purchases and report inventory.  Order food when necessary.  Keep proper record of all food and drink served in Myers.  Make sure Myers is clean, safe, and organized.  Make sure staff are properly supervising campers.  Make sure computers are being monitored.  Make sure game room is being supervised.  Make sure staff and campers clean up after themselves.  Control the television and make sure it is appropriate content. Reports to and supervised by Activities Director.

Unit Head

Responsible for the well being and organization of their assigned cabins.  Supervise both the campers and staff.  Making sure the campers are getting their activities, phone calls, instruction, laundry, and showers. Check daily for a safe, clean and congenial atmosphere in the cabin and mealtimes.  Work with other unit heads on wake up, evening activities, and meals.  Make sure counselors are running good bed-time procedures.  Report any and all maintenance issues.  Report any and all cases of homesickness, bullying, and any other issues within the bunk.  Assist head counselors with day to day activities.  Have meetings with cabins twice a week to check for possible issues with campers or counselors.  Report to and supervised by Head Counselors.

Hockey Counselor

(see cabin counselor also).  Assist the Hockey director with instruction.  Help with the maintenance and set-up of area.  Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Hockey Director.

Office Staff

Maintain a neat and organized office. Record every phone call, package, and person who enters the office.  Organize all incoming and outgoing luggage. Record and responsible for all turned in camper valuables.  Reports to and supervised by the Office Manager.

Transportation/Trips Director

Transportation includes the management of the vans, buses, cars and trailers used to carry luggage or baggage. The trips include weekly airport pick up and drop off to Boston Logan, Portland, Bangor, Augusta and Manchester. NH. It also includes daily trips for golf, tennis, hockey and trip programs. To over see all transportation arrangements and follow through by cross checking records with computer print outs of transportation requests.  Confirm all campers travel information by speaking to parents 3-5 days prior to arrival or departure.  Make sure the drivers and chaperons follow all MGTA procedures.  Stay in touch with each vehicle every half hour.  Make sure every camper has someone over seeing them.  Make sure all vehicles are registered, inspected, maintained.  Schedule all drivers.  Make sure all vehicle books are up to date.  Control all sign out/sign in of gas cards and make sure they are properly used.  Review all emergency/other funds given to staff and the subsequent receipts. 

Drivers

Must have a valid and appropriate drivers license without a record of a ticket. Drive camp buses, vans, boats or cars for day trips. You may not drive for more than 40 hours behind the wheel and will have to agree to be drug tested by our MGTA drug test.  You must report any outside job that puts you over 40 hours.  Must obey all driving laws and put the safety and welfare of the children first.  Maintain the daily log and insure that each trip the vehicle has had a daily safety inspection and report all and any maintenance or mechanical problems to office.

Yoga/dance Instructor

(see cabin counselor also).  Running, set up, and teaching  yoga/dance.  Making sure the activity space and around the building for 20 ft. is swept in order and cleaned. Maintaining the equipment and supplies in a professional manner and reporting any maintenance issues.  Sweeping off  studio porch every day.   Vacuuming studio every other day.  Having planned the activity before it starts. Awarding certificates/patches for yoga/dance prowess.  Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Activities Director.

Arts and crafts Instructor

Theatre Manager

(see cabin counselor also).  Running, set up, and teaching theatre, skits, musical numbers, lip synching contests.   Running a volunteer group of campers every four weeks to put on short play or musical.  Making sure the theatre is clean. Insuring that the audio-visula equipment is set up, functioning and ready for use daily. Maintaining the equipment and supplies in a professional manner and reporting any maintenance issues.  Making sure all theatre activities are properly supervised.   Having planned the activity before it starts. Awarding certificates/patches for theatre prowess.   Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Activities Director.

Ropes Instructor

Set up and running of the ropes course.  Making sure ropes area is clean and free of obstacles.  Maintaining the equipment and supplies in a professional manner and reporting any maintenance issues.  Always using the safest procedures.   Having planned the activity before it starts.  Making improvements to course during down time.  Using the course to develop self-confidence, leadership skills, and communication of the campers.  Awarding certificates/patches for ropes prowess.  Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Activities Director.

Archery

(see cabin counselor also).  Must have experience teaching archery and/or certificate. Running, set up, and teaching archery.  Making sure the archery area is clean. Maintaining the equipment and supplies in a professional manner and reporting any maintenance issues.  Making sure all archery safety procedures are followed.  Set up a skills test. Awarding certificates/patches for archery prowess.  Having planned the activity before it starts. Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Activities Director.

Fitness

Maintaining the equipment and supplies in a professional manner and reporting any maintenance issues.  Coordinating with the golf, tennis, and hockey directors to include fitness into the instructional rotation of there activities.    Having planned the activity before it starts. Awarding certificates/patches for fitness prowess.   Supervise campers on off site trips.  Report to and supervised by Activities Director.

Activities Director

Prior overnight camp experience is required. This job is all encompassing and includes all of the intra-camp competition, color war, counselor activities, basketball, soccer, softball, ping pong, badminton, archery, singing, cammpfires, games, events, evening programming, bar-b-ques, trips locally to mini-golf, 4th of July fireworks, museums

Waterfront Director

Must be experienced and certified and over 21.Above all to maintain a strict culture of SAFETY FIRST. To be knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of the waterfront. Our waterfront includes recreational swim, swim lessons, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, Water Front Olympics. POwer boating consists of 2 Mastercraft ski boats, 30' pontoon party boat, 1 emergency boat used on our 3 mile lake. The job includes setting up all safety procedures, routinely having emergency practice drills for the whole camp; scheduling and training lifeguards to meet the minimum requirements of the ACA and State of Maines safety codes.

Cinema Cafe Director

This building has three rooms in which campers listent to music, read, use the computer( limited), play games, watch movies ( we select the movie) and eat ice cream, sodas, pop corn. It requires a strict adherence to the design of the rooms and service for each room. Maintaining cleanliness, the proper systems for delivering the food and drink and adherance of proper behavior of campers and staff alike is of utmost importance. This should be treated like any restaurant or ice cream parlor in the town. Only politness is accepted.

Lead Instructors

Must have multiple years of experience and/or certification. Each department needs highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, mature instructors to maintain a level of the highest professionalism. The departments are: Golf, Tennis, Hockey, Theater, Fitness, Multi-media, Video Analysis V1 Coaching System, Ropes, Archery, Theater and Waterskiing.

Multi-Media / IT Director

Experience is required. This department is responsible for the electronic functioning of all computers, cameras, wires, internet cable and wireless hook up, audio visual equipment and theater equipment.

In addtion, this department is responsible for the daily, weekly, and summers-end making of , editing and delivering photos and videos of campers, staff, activities, cabin pictures, staff pictures, camper pictures, end of the week-in-review movie plus the compilation of an end of the summer Video Year book.

Multi-Media Video/Photography Counselor

Experienced required. Daily capturing of candid and posed shots of campers, staff, instruction, play, programs, cabin photos. To assist in making of video yearbook, weekly movie in review, daily web pictures of campers in action, documenting staff and activity shots for pr purposes and sending to parents.

Video Analysis V-1 Coaching System

Experience required. We video each player before, during at the finish of their stay. We make comments on the anaylysis and give tips on each persons tape. Each time we post them on their own personal video locker that can be viewed instantaneously by parents on their computers at home. Must have fluid knowledge of V1 Coaching System and be facility with the video capturing, commenting for instruction purposes and posting on web locker hosted at V1 web site.

Web/Newsletter/Yearbook

A desire and love of writing, making a record visually and in writing of events for kids. A daily newsletter capturing yesterdays happenings, todays events and what to look forward for the following days. Fun, interactive sylte encouraging camper participation, with photos and an attempt to include as many campers and staff mentioned each day, as possible. Assist creating web and video communication for parents to see their childs experience at camp

Camping and Tripping
Coordiantor

Experience in camping in Maine. Set up easy to run camping trips for interested campers to scenic and traditional maine sites. In addtion: to organize, plan and run each trip other than golf, tennis, and hockey trips.
ESL Instructor

Experience teaching English to kids who have another language as their mother tongue. Teach English from ESL or ESOL work books, magazines, and videos. Take vidoes of each camper during the day and have them describe what they are doing in the video as a way of learning and practicing practical English
Maintenance/ Grounds Keeping

Experience in small engine, or carpentry, plumbing electrical or golf course grounds keeping.
Maintenance - General

Manual labor, assisting the Caretaker and grounds keeping. Good work habits, a car and a reliable contact number is required.

Music - Band Leader

Experience with multiple musical expressions, recording, band creation, teaching guitar, songs, singing, musical productions and shows. Band contest twice a summer and guitars lessons daily.
